Every day, our children head out on supervised visits to the farm. They meet the animals, help look after them and grow in confidence along the way
We work closely with the farmers at Mead Open Farm, so children take on real jobs. They prepare fresh vegetables for the animals using child-safe knives and weigh out feed. On their farm visits they give it to the animals themselves or hand it to a farmer to share out later.
It gives them a real sense of responsibility, and it teaches empathy, kindness and care for animals and the world around them.

We are delighted to have received a ‘Good’ in our most recent 2022 Ofsted inspection.

Learning through play is at the heart of how we work. We want children to have fun, and we also want them to leave us ready for the big wide world, not just for school.
We help children to:
Our setting, located within the beautiful grounds of Mead Open Farm near Leighton Buzzard, ensures children benefit from daily fresh air, friendly farm animals, and endless opportunities for outdoor learning and exploration. The happiness and well-being of every child is central to our nurturing care, providing a supportive, engaging environment where little ones feel safe and confident to discover the world through hands-on play.
The real highlight is our daily, supervised farm visits which are a core part of our nursery day. Children absolutely love meeting and caring for the animals, learning valuable lessons in kindness, empathy, and responsibility along the way. These enriching outdoor adventures naturally spark curiosity, build self-assurance, and encourage a deep, lifelong connection with nature, which is fundamental to both their physical and emotional development.
